We are AWESOME!

We shoot lots of things…but mostly people.

We are a husband and wife photography team. Since getting married in 2006 Amanda has loved all things wedding.  Working together shooting weddings has been a way for her to get her fix! Andrew has always been fascinated in taking portraits, he felt shooting weddings was the next logical step.

We have a well balanced style combining a photo journalistic approach with modern and unique posed shots to tell the story of your special day. We’ll capture your family and friends celebrating along with you so that years from now when you look at your wedding album you can relive the entire day down to the smallest of details. You’ve spent all the time planning this day, make sure it’s all documented through your photographs.

Along with weddings we also shoot other portrait sessions.  Lately Amanda has really enjoyed shooting newborns & babies as well as maternity sessions.  We also shoot family sessions, seniors & head shots.  You’ll find our most recent work as well as what we are doing in our personal lives.  Read more: full bio page

Our family of 3 is going to be a family of 4!!!! We are expecting our little nugget in early July, my Dad is hoping for a July 4th baby because that is his birthday! My friend Michelle, part owner of The Pink Pinwheel, wanted to make us some cupcakes to share the babies gender with our family & friends. It was a cute and yummy idea!   We of course snapped a few shots of the cupcakes.  Prue assisting Drew taking the photos of the cupcakes.

Finally the big reveal!  When you took a bite of the cupcake the color frosting indicated what we are having!

We look forward to welcoming the littlest MrDrew to our family.  Prue is excited about having a baby brother.  She was a little hesitant at first (since she was sure it was a baby girl).  She sometimes still says baby girl, but after I remind her she corrects herself.   Lot’s of mustached baby items are definitely in our future!  I think I’m going to have to have an intervention with Drew, we’ve already bought 2 little outfits and both are green and grey with stripes.

Being a Creative Person: Ira Glass on starting the creative journey.

I came across this video on a photographers blog (thank you to The Youngrens) and thought it was worth sharing.  It’s Ira Glass, from This American Life, talking about what it’s like starting out in a creative field.  How you have really great ideas and taste, but then what you are creating might not be living up to that standard, and how it’s OKAY.  He explains how all creatives go through this.  When I look back at the work Drew & I created in our first years in college (I have a BA in art education & Drew has a BA in photography) I think it is not that great and not very well done, but we had the vision of what we wanted to create but what we were actually creating wasn’t living up to it.  Ira Glass is letting you know that it’s okay and normal to not create great work at the beginning.  You need to stick with it and keep working through it to get to the good stuff.  The only thing that is going to improve your creative work is doing more creative work.  The more you do, the better you’ll get.

Take a minute to watch the video and I hope it helps inspire you to keep working on your creative work and don’t give up.

I figured since Miss Olivia has finally made her debut and was born just a few days ago it was perfect time to post Ashley and Bobby’s maternity session from this past November.  Ashley and Bobby live far away in North Carolina (Ashley is originally from Massachusetts) Ashley knew she wanted us to shoot a maternity session for them and made it happen by scheduling it when they were in the area for their baby shower.  I had a great time hanging out with them and shooting at Elm park in Worcester.  I wish they lived closer so we could capture a newborn session of their adorable little lady.  Maybe next time they come up for a visit we can squeeze something in! hint hint ;)

Enjoy this wonderful time Ashley & Bobby.  The first year goes by so quickly!! You’ll be planning her first birthday party before you know it.

This post is a little late coming.  We’ve had the photos collected for a couple weeks, but then kept disputing what to keep in and what to take out.  Drew wanted to narrow down the list even more so that meant the post got put on hold for a bit.  I didn’t end up editing the list down as much as Drew wanted (sorry).  Anyway here are some of our favorite images from our weddings this past year.  We tried to select images that we love that also show all of the different moments that happen during a wedding from the prepping all the way through to dance party at the end of the night.  Enjoy!

Coming up with a best of post has been really tough.  Drew picked his faves and then I went through and selected my faves.  I think we had the intention of selecting just one photo from each engagement session, but then I realized I couldn’t do that (Drew thinks he could, but I argued that I didn’t want to eliminate some of the images).  So here are some of our fave couple shots from this past year!  Enjoy

The first few are from Jill+Victor’s engagement session in New Hampshire. We headed up to a bed and breakfast that Jill’s mom often likes to stay at.  Jill and Victor were married this past May at Flag Hill Winery (you’ll see more of them in our Best of Weddings!)
This next group of photos are from Steph+Chris’ engagement session at Amherst MA (these images are all from UMASS, but we also spent some time downtown).  This is my baby brother so it was really difficult to narrow the images down.  They will be getting married this coming May.  (Drew would like me to add in that this is his favorite image)
Next up we have Melanie+Dan’s engagement session in Lowell MA.  We loved shooting in this parking garage!  We’ll be shooting their wedding at the Danversport Yacht club this April. For this one we headed down to Fall River (where Drew grew up) for Megan & Alan’s session.  This park is tucked right along the edge of the river in Fall River (right near the battleship).  Megan & Alan haven’t sent a date yet, but we look forward to capturing their wedding day when it happens!Next up is Ashley & Derek’s engagement session at the beach in Hampton NH.  They have loved going up to hang out at the beach for many years so it seemed like a perfect location for their session.  It was overcast at first, but then this amazing sunset happened when the sun came below the cloud cover.  Ashley & Derek were married this past August at the Methuen Music Hall with the reception at the Granite Rose.  Megan & Marc will be getting married this March.  I actually realized that their entire session never hit the blog, so keep an eye out for their full session on the blog in the coming weeks!  We shot their session in Hopedale close to where they live.  Duncan their dog was the star of many of the images.  Megan and Marc will be getting married this March.Nicole & Greg had their session in Worcester.  They live down in Connecticut and were down with meeting us in Worcester for their session.  My sister use to live in Worcester so I am pretty familiar with the city.  We shot these at the train station right downtown.  Their wedding took place this September in Connecticut at the Webb Barn at the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum.  Here’s another wedding that I just realized hasn’t hit the blog yet :( Drew says I should blame having a 3 year old.
Finally these last two images are from some mini sessions we did for the Holidays.  You’ll be seeing more of the lovely people in this first image as we shoot Carla & John’s full engagement session sometime this spring or summer as well as after we shoot their wedding this coming October. We end with this image of Amanda & Chris and their adorable little dog Lily.  They haven’t set a date yet but we hope to be able to capture their special day when it happens!

This is another blog post that is long overdue, but with the rush of portraits for the holidays this wedding didn’t get posted.  Julie and Steve hired us only a few weeks before their wedding.  They were looking for a photographer for just a few hours to shoot getting ready, the ceremony & a few portraits.  Even though our time together was short, Andrew & I had a great time hanging out with Julie & Steve as well as their family & friends.  In the 2 hours we were at the Fruitlands Museum we saw the weather change from sunny & gorgeous to windy and drizzly.  We had to rush the portraits a bit due to the wind & rain, but luckily it held out and didn’t start until after the ceremony.  The Fruitlands grounds are absolutely gorgeous and we hope we get to shoot another wedding there in the future!

A crochet hook makes a huge difference if you have lots of buttons on the back of your dress!  I tell brides this all the time at the bridal shop.  If you have lots of buttons to hook, get a crochet hook for sure.  Steve and Julie had a special necklace to give Julie’s daughter during the ceremony.  I think when children are involved it is always nice to do something special to incorporate them into the wedding ceremony.
Julie had her chiropractor come up to the room where they were getting ready to do a last minute adjustment for her!  That is a dedicated chiropractor for sure!  After the adjustment Julie was ready and excited to walk down the aisle.

Congrats again Ashley & Derek!

I had a fun time hanging out with these 3 beautiful young ladies back in the Fall.  It was a unseasonably warm day and felt more like summer.  The girls were great and worked it out despite the heat.  The session was a gift for Lext (the lovely Brunette in the middle of the first set of images) and she decided to bring along 2 of her best friends.  I think this is such a great idea for a tween/teen girl that you don’t know what to get for her.  Her Aunt and I went to high school together and she approached me with the idea.  It was such a fun session idea and I look forward to shooting more best friend sessions!  The girls wanted to bring some sort of fun Prop.  Lexi’s Aunt found these glasses while out shopping.  I thought they were perfect (obviously!)

Thanks for a great session Girls!  :) Amanda
