Megan is someone I have now known for many years. She went to Salem State (where myself & Drew both went) She was a theater major & one of my very good friends was also a theater major. My twister (if you follow the blog you know what it means…twin sister) and I were at times honorary theater peeps because we hung out with them so much.
Megan lives in the BK (Brooklyn) and is pursuing acting roles. She needed updated head shots (I think her last ones were from when we were all in college…correct me if I’m wrong Megan!). She was in town last weekend for a wedding so it worked out as a perfect time to shoot some head shots. Megan and her husband were staying with our friend Alicia due to the cold weather and knowing that Alicia’s apartment gets really great light I decided we could just shoot them at her house. Not only did we use Alicia’s apartment, Alicia was also kind enough to do Megan’s makeup and assist me when needed. Alicia, you did a kick ass job holding the reflector for me! :) I almost forgot…Alicia also provided some accessories for Megan to wear.
I had a blast hanging out and laughing with both of you & I can’t wait to hear about all the amazing roles you get Megan!
A little sexy star for the camera…this is the fun thing about doing head shots for actors & actresses, you are allowed to have a little more fun and you really want to express a variety of emotions. Megan was awesome and humored me while I was making suggestions for posing. She was also always ready, we’d be talking and I’d have the camera down and as soon as I brought the camera up to take a photo Megan would stop mid sentence and give me a smile or pose.
I love the black & white one on the left. Such a striking image…You are a gorgeous gal Megan!!! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Can you even handle Megan’s green eyes! Can you say STUNNING?!
Megan was down for bundling up and heading outside for a bit. I think we were outside for maybe 20 minutes (if that) We were lucky and had some really great locations right near Alicia’s house. We had to trudge through a little snow, but it wasn’t too bad. Since it was nice and sunny it didn’t feel quite as cold as it was. It also helped that Megan had this amazing patterned coat. As soon as I saw it hung up at the house I asked if we were going to shoot wearing it.This was at the library in Beverly, we had people coming in and out of the doors, luckily they always chose the door on the left so we could work around it.
I love these last 2 images, so pretty. Thanks again Megan for letting me hang out and have fun shooting your head shots. :)
Our friends Katie & Kevin are engaged (duh! pretty obvious from the post title)! I use to work with Katie as a teacher, she is an amazing person & guidance counselor for 7th & 8th graders. She is great at what she does & I couldn’t imagine having to “counsel” teenagers everyday (and deal with parents on top of it)…before I digress too much. Katie and Kevin met during a weekend trip to the Cape (both expecting the weekend to be a “girls & boys night” out and nothing else) They have been together ever since and as you can see from the images are totally in LOVE!
They were kind enough to “model” for a Shoot Out that I organized for the Lowell Photo Meetup (if you are a photographer in the area find us on facebook!). We headed to Westward Orchards (thanks to the connection from photographer Kerri Green…her husband’s family owns & runs the orchards) and myself along with a few other photographers shot their engagement session. The little nerves that they both might have had when we started didn’t show at all in the images. They rocked the session (which was a little chilly) and we got some AMAZING images.
Kevin & Katie working it with the wheels…sometimes you have to do silly things, it loosens you up and definitely makes for better photos! A little snuggling is necessary for an engagement session, of course it didn’t hurt that it was a little chilly! Loved Katie’s dedication to getting on the tractor in her heels. One of my favorites. These are blueberry bushes (Kerri, correct me if I’m wrong) that turned the most lovely shade of orange/red. I also loved that they were so symmetrical in rows. We set up a little picnic in the orchard. a great quilt -check! some yummy Champagne -check! Apple Pie -check! Great photos -check & check! We didn’t have sun for most of the shoot, it was a very overcast day, when it showed up for about 15 minutes we ditched the quilt and shot, shot, shot! I hand-painted this parasol for my wedding and decided to bring it to the session. Yeah, for yummy light and not too many smushed apples on the ground. We did have to clear the ground a bit before they laid down, but I am sure it is way better then at the height of apple season.I am sure you already know this Katie… but I’ll say it anyway, you are gorgeous! Absolutely Stunning! Get out with Kevin’s great blue eyes, they are such a great shade of blue & the light only made them bluer. (I hope you are blushing too much, Kevin) This is a guilty pleasure shot for Katie…she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Twilight. As soon as we started talking about shooting in an apple orchard, the first things she asked was can we do the Twilight shot. I was happy to oblige her! (I’m totes Team Edward if you were wondering)
Katie & Kevin thank you for being amazing & so great! We can’t wait to shoot their wedding this coming June. I am sure it will be full of love & lots of laughs.
I was going to blog Prue playing in the leaves the other day, when I realized I hadn’t blogged Jess’ full session. I can’t believe I forgot to do a full write up. I am shocked, so here is your full blog post Jess! ENJOY :)
So Jess and the Correia Family go back a bit. We became friends with Jess through our friend Alicia. Jess is the type of person who makes you feel at ease immediately and it seems you’ve been friends forever! She was my “wedding coordinator” and made sure things went smoothly on the day Drew & I got married. She was super official and even had a clipboard (which I made her & was bedazzled…the bedazzles make it even more official). Anyway, Jess has been living in NYC for quite sometime now, though we miss her dearly she is perfect for NYC & she comes home to visit quite often!
Jess needed some updated headshots for a new opportunity (we have our fingers crossed, double for you girl!) and I was happy to do them for her. She came to the triple L and we ventured downtown. Drew had to work so I asked if our friend Kate if she wanted to come shoot it with me. We had a great time laughing and being goofy the entire session. We ended up shooting way longer then we expected because we were having so much fun.
This first one on the left is her SVU headshot. She is one badass lady, ready to kick it with Mariska & Chris. The backlight here was gorgeous! I love these shots with her hair light up from behind. We had to represent for Boston, obviously. We clearly did not do a good job reading the Keep Off sign here…oops :)
