Why we edit photos | Before & After

We did some headshots for our good friend Jess, who is going to be getting back into acting after taking a short hiatus. She is an amazing, gorgeous & funny person who we are so happy to have in our lives. She lives in NYC so we don’t get to see her as often as we’d like, but when we do get to hang out you know it’s going to be a good time for sure.

I’ll write more when I do a full post with her images, I just thought these would make a great before & after showing how we tweak our images in post production. Your goal is to always start with an amazing image, but even great images can benefit from a little tweaking. We use Lightroom to do most of our editing & then when needed we will take an image into Photoshop.

Before

After

What I did: I brightened the image just a tad, warmed it up, cleaned up a few minor blemishes, did a minor tweak to her eyes (brightening them a bit), did a little skin smoothing & added the lipgloss that wore off during the shoot. ¬†As you can see both images look like Jess, we don’t tweak them in a way so they look fake we just give them a little oomph.

For the photographers out there: If you haven’t tried out lightroom yet, we strongly suggest you do. It makes managing & editing a large number of images much easier. I won’t get on my soapbox and start preaching, just trust me, check it out if you haven’t already!
